Position Overview
On behalf of our client, a leader in the building materials industry (Manufacturer), we are seeking an experienced Outside Sales Representative to join their team. This role will be focused on business development and revenue growth to strengthen their market presence. The Outside Sales Representative is accountable for achieving sales targets, maintaining margins, and ensuring alignment with business objectives. They will build a high level of product knowledge, skills in negotiating contracts, and collaborating with internal teams to enhance our clients financial performance and maximize profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in and contribute to business development meetings, review sales, margins, and market trends.
- Develop and execute sales and business development plans, including client prospecting and territory management.
- Build strong relationships with prospective and existing clients through in-person visits, presentations, and regular communication.
- Prepare proposals, quotes, and forecasts, seeking approval for discounts below thresholds and adjusting strategies based on market conditions.
- Collaborate with customer service and supply chain teams to resolve client issues, ensure service excellence, and enhance client satisfaction.
- Maintain detailed CRM activity logs, track sales activities, and report on sales effectiveness.
- Support design community engagement and participate in industry events to expand market presence.
- Ensure responsible management of expenses and assist in collections for slow-paying accounts..
- Promote a collaborative, results-oriented work environment that emphasizes organizational success over siloed departmental thinking.
Qualifications
- 3 + years of experience in outside sales, inside sales, or project management, preferably within the building materials industry.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong negotiating, planning, and consultative sales skills with excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Above average organizational and problem solving skills to manage multiple accounts and tasks efficiently.
- Willing to travel to meet with potential and existing clients.
- Proficient in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
