Job summary

McElhanney is seeking a Field Assistant to join our Drumheller, AB team. You will support utility locates and surveys, reporting to a Field Supervisor, and gain hands-on experience in the field.

The role offers training, flexible rotations, and camp accommodations with travel if needed. A high school diploma and a willingness to learn are required, with safety and equipment handling emphasized throughout.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical schooling is a plus.
• Strong willingness to learn and adapt to field conditions.
• Reliable and punctual with good communication and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Field Supervisor or Crew Chief with utility locate tasks.
• Prepare accurate field notes when required.
• Maintain equipment, supplies, and company vehicle with minimal supervision.
• Operate tools such as chainsaw, axe, sledgehammer, shovel, metal detector and survey tripod as needed.
