Job description

Outbound Shipping Analyst

Department: Logistics

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Mississauga

Compensation: $65,000 - $80,000 / year

Description
The Role

Imagine this: It’s Tuesday afternoon and there are several thousand packages in front of you, a snapshot of the day’s work. Each one has been carefully prepared, neatly organized, and ready to be picked up for delivery. You glance down to your right and start to read the addresses: Miami, Medellin, London, Johannesburg, Auckland, Iqaluit, Gaborone. This basket of parcels represents a gateway to the widest reaches of planet Earth, the final step between our company, and our adoring cult-like army of super fans.

Of course, these packages aren't going to deliver themselves. They require a crack-shot Outbound Shipping Analyst that's ready, willing, and able to manage a variety of carrier partners. In much the same way that one would be foolish to climb Mount Everest without a guide, our Operations Team relies on your support to conquer the mountain of parcels that pass through our doors each day.

Whether you're making use of your knowledge of cost forecasting, working with our Customer Experience team to resolve problem orders, or coordinating carrier review meetings, you're the connective tissue between our organization and the outside world. It's thanks to your white glove service mentality that all of the right packages are reaching the right people. All of the high-level logistics work that our customers expect and demand from us? You're the one that we look to and trust to get it done.

As the sun sets and the receiving door closes for the last time, you reflect on the day's work. A mountain of packages, all of them bound for the distant corners of the globe. Not a single one was delayed - not even the one to Gaborone. Two strains of thought dominate your mind: first, you don't even know where Gaborone is. The second is that you can't wait to do it all over again tomorrow.

The Environment

At dbrand, expect a clean, modern, well-lit warehouse with desks, chairs, and rows of inventory bins. The warehouse floor? You could eat off it. Should you? Who can say? We're not scientists. Instead, we're a team who works hard and plays hard. There's nothing we're more committed to than ongoing growth... other than unparalleled product quality and customer experience.

What's in it for you? Well, unlike most companies, we actually care about the work we're doing. Our customers deserve no less than the absolute best. At dbrand, you have the opportunity to create once-in-a-lifetime purchase experiences for them. If you're someone who's detail-oriented, committed, and excited about our mission, you'll do more than thrive here.

Before you can get the opportunity to join our passionate, dynamic team and create unparalleled customer experiences as part of our Logistics team, you'll need to prove yourself. Let’s see if you’ve got what it takes…

The Characteristics
  • Agile: You’re nimble. You’re adaptable. You thrive in an environment where priorities can change in an instant.
  • Analytical: Your decisions are driven by only one thing: facts. You continue to master all the tools necessary to surface insights.
  • Collaborative: You enjoy purposeful meetings. You value the contributions of your coworkers as much as those of your CEO.
  • Curious: You’re eager to learn new concepts and master new skills. There’s no useless tool in your arsenal.
  • Disciplined: You never allow the details to slip, understanding that every bit of minutiae forms the bigger picture.
  • Enthusiastic: You exhibit a contagious passion for providing standout customer experiences.
  • Innovative: You develop new approaches to complex problems.
  • Perfectionist: You persist until the smallest detail has been optimized. You know nothing less than 100%.
  • Persistent: You’ve never failed. You’ve only experienced speed bumps on your path to success.
  • Reliable: You live up to both verbal and written agreements. You can be trusted to work effectively, without oversight.

  • Contributing to shipping / outbound shipping projects, varying in scope and complexity, in order to evolve the customer experience and understand purchasing behaviours.
  • Upkeep and improvement of departmental processes and procedures.
Carrier Relationship Management

  • Organize and attend quarterly carrier review meetings, including scheduling, coordinating, and participating in quarterly review meetings with each carrier Account Manager to discuss performance, service improvements, and upcoming changes.

  • Liaison communication between carriers and the customer to investigate and resolve order exceptions.
  • Report on any analyses or findings that may impact daily operations and customer communications.
  • Other duties, as they present themselves.
If you find a box you can’t check, stop reading and look for a company who demands less from their analysts:
  • A degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Business Management or a related program (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum two years of experience in a supply chain or logistics analytics role.
  • An impeccable communication style - your grasp on the English language is flawless.
  • Detail-oriented, self-sufficient, resourceful, organized, and proactive.
  • The instinct to help teammates thrive and the openness to learn from past experiences.
  • The ability to solve complex problems (or know where to find the answer).
  • Commitment to long-term growth and learning opportunities.
  • Insights and engagement with the current state of smartphone and mobile technology.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel and Google Sheets.
