The Globe and Mail is seeking two reporters to join a new local journalism initiative in Ottawa. Based in Ottawa, the role requires a minimum of two days a week in the office and a commitment to covering issues that matter to residents.

You will break news, develop sources, and deliver clear, original pieces across formats—text, video and audio—while collaborating with newsroom colleagues to build something from the ground up.

Formación

• At least three years experience reporting for a news organization.
• Sharp instincts for stories that will resonate locally in Ottawa.
• Strong writing with versatile range - from hard news to human-interest feature to explanatory.
• Solid news judgment with a track record of enterprise work.
• Comfortable working in a variety of formats, including live blogs, newsletters, video and audio.
• Entrepreneurial mindset.

Responsabilidades

• Frequently pitch fresh, compelling story ideas that serve Ottawa residents.
• Develop sources to break news and produce exclusive stories.
• Write clearly and on deadline.
• Think in multiple storytelling formats (ie video, audio and text) and participate in Globe events.
• Collaborate with newsroom colleagues on story ideas and the best way to tell them.
