Job summary

Blackbird Strategies in Ottawa is seeking a Consultant to join our government relations team, working directly with clients to develop and execute strategies and manage stakeholder relationships across party lines.

You’ll build and maintain relationships with elected officials, public servants and political staff, monitor policy developments, and draft briefing notes and communications for diverse client rosters; Ottawa-based role with strong civic impact.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
• University degree required.
• Experience on Parliament Hill or in a government relations/public affairs consultancy.
• Knowledge of national political and policy trends and basic federal electoral processes.
• Existing networks on Parliament Hill.
• Lived Indigenous experience is an asset but not required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute government relations strategies for diverse clients.
• Build relationships with elected officials, political staff and public servants.
• Monitor legislative and policy developments relevant to client interests.
• Draft briefing notes and stakeholder communications.
• Support client meetings, Hill Day logistics and advocacy campaigns.
