A healthcare authority in Nova Scotia is seeking an Orthopaedic Licensed Practical Nurse to join their multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include performing assessments, providing personal care, and managing orthopaedic procedures such as applying casts and adjusting traction equipment. The ideal candidate will be registered with the BC College of Nurses and possess training in Orthopaedic Technology along with effective communication and organizational skills. Under the direction of the Manager, Clinical Coordinator or designate and as a member of a multidisciplinary team, performs assessments, plans and provides personal care, and performs nursing procedures. Performs a variety of orthopaedic technician functions such as applying and removing casts and splints and setting up, monitoring, and adjusting traction equipment as directed by the physician. The Orthopaedic LPN operates in accordance with the competency guidelines and full scope of practice within the Standards of Practice as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, and according to agency operating policies and standards and unit specific protocols.
Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant.
Completion of recognized training in Orthopaedic Technology plus two years of Orthopaedic technician experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
