Job summary

FYidoctors Newmarket is seeking an Optometric Assistant to join our patient-focused team. In this full-time role (30-40 hours/week), you will greet patients, assist with pre-testing, frame selection, and billing, delivering outstanding eyewear experiences.

The ideal candidate has optical experience, MS Office proficiency, and excellent communication skills. CCOA designation is preferred; join a collaborative, growth-oriented clinic that values patient care and continuous training.

Our FYidoctors Newmarket clinic is looking for someone like you to bring your exceptional skills and experience to join us as an Optometric Assistant to fill an existing vacancy!

In this role, you’ll enhance the lives of our patients every single day, delivering exceptional vision and eyewear experiences in a dynamic, rewarding, and collaborative environment.

This position is a full-time role working30-40 hours per week. Our clinic is open Monday to Friday.

What You’ll Do

• Greet and welcome patients to the clinic, manage patient check in and check out and engage with patients in person, by phone, and via email
• Perform pre-testing to support comprehensive eye care
• Educate patients on eyewear options tailored to their lifestyle, assisting with frame selection to ensure optimal value, quality, aesthetics, and performance
• Interpret optical prescriptions provided by the optometrist
• Perform frame and facial measurements, ensuring proper fit and positioning of new eyewear, as well as repairs and adjustments
• Coordinate appointments, and prepare prescription printouts
• Manage billing and payments for patients, insurers and other third parties
• Assist with contact lens fittings and process contact lens orders
• Deliver exceptional customer service, ensuring a positive patient experience
• Support clinic operations by performing additional duties as required

What You Bring

• Past or current CCOA designation preferred
• Minimum 3 years optical experience required
• Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Dry Eye experience would be an asset
• Proficiency with technology and computers, including MS Office Suite
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for connecting with patients and delivering exceptional patient experiences
• A collaborative, adaptable, and proactive team player with a growth mindset, able to manage changing priorities effectively
