About Our Opportunity

As the Director you will be responsible to lead and oversee through a team of program and administrative professionals effective program corporate client service delivery. As part of the Policy and Corporate Services Branch the Corporate Services Management Division the Director and team provide services to both the Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Energy.

Primary Accountabilities

In this role your primary accountabilities will include :
  • Leadership and oversight of the Department of Natural Resources and Department of Energys Occupational Health and Safety Program.
  • Providing strategic and operational leadership to the departments research and information management program including Natural Science Library operations
  • Management and oversight of facilities management and related business processes and client service delivery
  • Lead for Business Continuity Management (BCM)which can include the development of supporting frameworks policies and evaluation tools.
  • Coordinating and facilitating a wide range of complex planning projects and corporate initiatives using best practice management principles
  • Utilizing a broad deep knowledge of programs to maintain effective and collaborative relationships with other governments partners and organizations. Represents the Department on inter-department and internal committees project teams and at conferences and meetings.
  • Ensuring timely accurate and well-researched responses to requests from Senior Executives and partner Departments and agencies.
  • Advising and briefing the senior management and executive team effectively. This includes ensuring advice recommendations and decisions are based on sound research that risks and benefits are clearly identified all options are explored and these considerations are clearly articulated.
  • Ensuring the effective management of human and financial resources by setting and evaluating staff performance targets promoting diversity and a healthy workplace demonstrating leadership competencies respecting corporate human resource practices promoting teamwork and individual development maintaining internal communications monitoring expenditures while adhering to procurement guidelines.
Qualifications and Experience

As the successful candidate you will have a post-secondary degree in a related discipline (such as Commerce Public Administration and / or Business) with several years of progressive related management experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. You will have demonstrated experience in human resource financial and project management as well as the ability to lead diverse and remote teams to achieve success.

You possess exceptional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to build and maintain strong business relationships. You are a collaborative individual with demonstrated presentation and negotiation skills and possess the ability to effect positive change in a dynamic environment. You encourage new ideas offer innovative solutions and utilize technologies that enhance the quality and cost effectiveness of your work.

You have experience in a leadership role employing strategic solutions and designing risk management strategies to meet project outcomes. You have direct experience leading an OHS program and OHS team. You have a broad understanding of information management information systems and technology innovations and are comfortable with presenting and delivering specialized information to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Leadership competencies required at this level of work are : Decisiveness Strategic Orientation Developing Others Team Leadership Self-Awareness and Personal Impact Effective Interactive Communication Partnering and Relationship Building and Intercultural and Diversity Proficiency.

Salary Range : $4136.98- $5171.21Bi-Weekly
