Job summary

Carbon Upcycling is seeking a Plant Operator to support the start-up and ongoing operation of its new commercial-scale facility at the CRH cement plant site in Mississauga, Ontario. This hands-on role will work closely with engineering, maintenance, and operations leadership during commissioning and steady-state operations.

The Plant Operator will monitor process parameters, perform inspections, and ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations while supporting continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Technical diploma or equivalent in industrial operations or related fields.
• 2–5 years of experience as a plant/ process operator in an industrial setting.
• Familiarity with mechanical systems, material handling, and process equipment.
• Strong commitment to safety and operational discipline.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.
• Ability to work in all weather environments.
• Comfortable working in an industrial plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate plant equipment and systems following procedures and safety standards.
• Support commissioning, start-up, shutdown, and normal operations of the facility.
• Monitor process parameters, perform routine inspections, and record operating data.
• Identify process upsets or equipment issues and take corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and process-related issues as needed.
• Coordinate with maintenance to support repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Comply with site, CRH, and Carbon Upcycling health, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Participate in continuous improvement and optimization efforts.

Compensation: $30.00-35.00/hr

Position Summary

This role is hands-on and critical to safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. The Plant Operator will work closely with engineering, maintenance, and operations leadership during commissioning and steady-state operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate plant equipment and systems in accordance with operating procedures and safety standards

• Support commissioning, start-up, shutdown, and normal operations of the facility

• Monitor process parameters, perform routine inspections, and record operating data

• Identify process upsets or equipment issues and take appropriate corrective actions

• Perform basic troubleshooting of mechanical and process-related issues

• Coordinate with maintenance personnel to support repairs and preventative maintenance activities

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

• Comply with all site, CRH, and Carbon Upcycling health, safety, and environmental requirements

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and operational optimization efforts

• Perform other tasks assigned by supervision

Qualifications & Experience

• Technical diploma or equivalent experience in industrial operations, chemical processing, cement, mining, maintenance or manufacturing environments

• 2–5 years of experience as a plant or process operator in an industrial setting preferred

• Familiarity with mechanical systems, material handling, and process equipment

• Strong commitment to safety and operational discipline

• Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as required

• Ability to work in all weather environments

• Comfortable working in an industrial plant environment
