Job summary

Dow Inc. in Orange, TX is seeking an Operator to help run assigned plant areas safely and reliably on a 12-hour shift, ensuring performance meets site and business goals.

You will monitor process equipment and conditions, respond to deviations, participate in Emergency Response Team activities, mentor new staff, and contribute to improvements through disciplined operating discipline and change management. This role requires flexibility for overtime and holidays.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years in chemical manufacturing operations.
• U.S. work eligible; no visa sponsorship.
• Willing to work 12-hour shifts and overtime.
• Valid US driver's license.
• Military experience considered in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

• Follow operating discipline policies to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
• Operate process equipment by monitoring process conditions and control systems; make decisions to maintain desired rates and conditions.
• Serve on site Emergency Response Team (ERT) and complete required training.
• Conduct effective shift relief and handoffs to arriving shift team.
• Identify improvements using facility improvement processes and change management tools.
• Maintain qualifications and complete training goals in a timely manner.
• Mentor and train new and existing operations personnel on process operation and troubleshooting.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled tasks due to unplanned events.
• Support immediate response and severe weather activities as assigned.

About you and this role -

Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Operator in Orange, Texas within Sabine River Operations (SRO).

In this role, you will utilize operations knowledge and experience, to proactively operate the plant in a safe, reliable, and optimal manner. You will work with shift team members to efficiently anticipate and resolve unplanned events within the capabilities of the shift team and effectively escalates issues that cannot be resolved to the appropriate support roles.

Responsibilities -

• Follow Operating Discipline policies, principles, procedures, standards and practices to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of assigned plant areas
• Operate process equipment by monitoring process conditions, key performance metrics, field equipment and control systems. Making appropriate decisions to maintain and/or achieve desired rates and conditions aligned with Plant/Site/Business goals
• Serve on site Emergency Response Team (ERT) and attend all required training (Fire Response, HAZMAT, Medical, etc)
• Conduct effective shift relief, as defined in facility specific operating discipline and tools, to ensure effective communication and handoff to arriving shift team
• Use process knowledge and skills to improve plant performance and operating discipline. Proactively identify improvements and opportunities utilizing facility improvement processes, appropriate management of change processes and communication tools
• Maintain qualifications in assigned areas, per facility policy, and complete training goals in a timely manner. This includes using discretionary time to address skills and knowledge gaps
• Mentor and train new and existing operations personnel on process operation, optimization, effective troubleshooting, emergency response and the use of operating discipline in alignment to plant's training process
• Perform scheduled operational and related tasks and unscheduled tasks that arise because of unplanned/non-routine events
• Perform Immediate Response/Severe Weather Response activities, as assigned

Qualifications -

• A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED and one or both of the following:

• 2 or more years of experience in an Operations role within a Chemical Manufacturing environment
• In lieu of a degree Dow will consider those with 3 or more years of relevant military experience
• Successful candidates must be able to work 12-hour shift schedule and work overtime as required, including Holidays and Weekends

• Must have valid US Drivers License.
• A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills -

• Associate degree or higher in Process Plant Technology or related field.
• Experience within a Chemical Manufacturing environment.
• Experience issuing safe work permits.

The physical abilities, with or without reasonable accommodations, include:

• Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, respirators. and steel-toed shoes
• Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
• Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground, including tight and closed in spaces.
• Stand or walk for extended periods of time.

• This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground.
