Job summary

National Diabetes Trust in Mississauga is seeking an Operations Manager to support the Declutter program, door-to-door pickups, and revenue generation. You will oversee local streams, ensure fiscal accountability, and drive net revenues in line with HR practices.

Reporting to the Area Manager, you will hire, coach, and evaluate staff, manage inventory, ensure regulatory paperwork, and pursue cost savings through technology and partnerships.

Qualifications

  • Must have Class G license with clean driving record and 5 years driving experience
  • University degree or college diploma in Business Administration or equivalent
  • 5-7 years of experience in a multi-disciplinary environment with a scheduling component
  • Excellent organizational, motivation, and ability to delegate
  • Knowledge of computer systems, particularly Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and telephone
  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration or equivalent experience
  • Second language an asset

Responsibilities

  • Manage, coach, direct, and motivate staff to achieve targets and ensure budgeted revenues are achieved
  • Hire, evaluate, promote, and terminate staff in consultation with the Area Manager and HR
  • Ensure accurate inventory management and reporting and adjust for seasonal fluctuations
  • Guarantee that documentation related to CVOR/NSC, Hours of Service, and vehicle maintenance is up-to-date
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and increased efficiencies through economies of scale and technology
  • Complete monthly employee productivity reports and plan staff meetings
  • Prepare and follow a yearly budget for the Business Operation
  • Maintain knowledge of the organization's goals, services, and structure at all levels
  • Liaise with Value Village Stores to maintain steady merchandise flow
  • Build relationships in the community and secure partnerships and fundraising opportunities
  • Communicate with Leadership Centres and branches to secure merchandise and support

Job Overview

Reporting to the Area Manager, Business Operations, this hands‑on roll supports the National Diabetes Trust’s mission through the Declutter® Program, the door‑to‑door pickup and drop‑box collection programs, and the generation of revenue. The Operations Manager ensures all local business streams and targets are met, maintains strong fiscal accountability and excellent net revenues in the context of sound human resource management practices.

About the Operations Manager Role
  • Manage, coach, direct, and motivate staff to achieve targets and ensure budgeted revenues are achieved, while promoting teamwork and cooperation among employees.
  • Hire, evaluate, promote, and terminate staff in consultation with the Area Manager and the Human Resources Department.
  • Ensure accurate inventory management and reporting, maintaining correct inventory levels throughout the year and adjusting for seasonal fluctuations.
  • Guarantee that all documentation related to the Commercial Vehicle Operator Registration / National Safety Code Registration, Hours of Service, and vehicle inspection, maintenance, and service is accurate and up‑to‑date.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities within the operation for cost savings and increased efficiencies through economies of scale, elimination of duplication, use of technology, and group purchasing.
  • Complete monthly employee productivity reports and plan, post, and implement regular staff meetings.
  • Prepare and follow a yearly budget for the Business Operation.
  • Maintain knowledge of the organization's goals, objectives, services, programs, and structure at all levels.
  • Liaise with local Value Village Stores to maintain a steady flow and proper mix of merchandise delivered to the stores.
  • Build and foster relationships in the community, including drop‑box partnerships, alternate collection partnerships, clothing drives, and fundraising opportunities.
  • Communicate and liaise with Leadership Centres, Branches, etc. to build internal National Diabetes Trust support, unified public relations efforts, and to secure assistance in obtaining merchandise.
  • Keep updated personnel files and attendance records, produce work schedules, and manage vacation requests and sick leave.
  • Ensure payroll records are accurate and sent to the National Payroll Department on a timely basis.
About You
  • Must have a Class G license, passenger car or light truck, with a minimum of 5 years actual driving experience at that level, and a clean driver abstract, with no violations or accidents within the last 3 years.
  • University Degree or College Diploma in Business Administration or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience in a multi‑disciplinary environment with a scheduling component.
  • Excellent organizational skills, motivation, and ability to delegate.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of computer systems, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of financial management and planning.
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and telephone.
  • Post‑secondary education in Business Administration or equivalent experience.
  • Second language an asset.
