Operations Manager – Northern Energy Innovation (NEI) at YukonU Research Centre, Ayamdigut Campus, Whitehorse. Wage: $45.15 to $53.75 hourly based on 75 hours bi-weekly. Term to March 31, 2027. Employment Opportunity No.: 25.87. Closing date: August 12, 2025.

Yukon University is seeking an Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations and strategic growth of the Northern Energy Innovation (NEI) research program. This position plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality research services and operational excellence within a nationally recognized research team supporting energy solutions across the North.

The Operations Manager works closely with the Industrial Research Chair and provides leadership in research administration, partnership coordination, staff supervision, and stakeholder engagement with government, industry, and Indigenous partners.

Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day operations and strategic growth of the NEI research program.
  • Provide leadership in research administration, partnership coordination, staff supervision, and stakeholder engagement with government, industry, and Indigenous partners.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or relevant field preferred; or Bachelor’s degree with minimum 5 years of related experience.
  • Experience supporting partnered research projects, especially with Indigenous communities and governments.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and develop administrative systems.
  • Strong organizational, budgeting, communication, and stakeholder relationship skills.
  • Experience supporting the development of funding proposals and research ethics compliance.
  • Understanding of research processes and funding in a post-secondary environment.
Assets
  • Experience supervising and mentoring student researchers.
  • Familiarity with northern and Indigenous energy issues and policy.
  • Membership in relevant professional or academic networks.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
