Job summary

Nova Scotia Power in Beechville, NS, is seeking an Operations Manager for Meter & Inspection Services. You will lead safe, efficient planning, scheduling, and execution of meter services, inspection services, and meter shop operations across the province.

Qualifications

  • University degree or equivalent with leadership experience in a utility or related environment.
  • 7–10 years of leadership experience with safety and customer service excellence.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational and team development skills.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a culture of safety and enforce health & safety rules and NS Power safety system.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and performance related to relevant acts and standards.
  • Provide fiscal leadership, including planning and budgeting, to meet objectives.
  • Identify and champion process improvement across teams to boost efficiency and outcomes.
  • Support change initiatives with empathy, maintaining engagement and productivity.
  • Oversee operation and maintenance of vehicles, equipment, and procedures.
  • Contribute to long-term planning with work plans and budget management.
  • Champion customer-first approach and meet experience targets and metrics.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team with safe practices and excellence.

We are currently seeking an Operations Manager - Meter & Inspection Services. Reporting to the Director of Energy Delivery Services, the Operations Manager is responsible for the safe and efficient planning, scheduling, and execution of meter services, inspection services, and meter shop operations across the province.

As a key member of the Energy Delivery Services team, you will lead a team responsible for delivering positive customer experiences while meeting regulatory obligations and operational performance targets.

Responsibilities:
  • Promote and ensure a culture of safety by adhering to and enforcing all Occupational Health & Safety rules, regulations, and the Nova Scotia Power Safety Management System.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and performance related to the Meter Quality Assurance Program, the Electrical Installation Act, and other applicable standards.
  • Provide strong fiscal leadership, including resource planning and budget management, to meet business and financial objectives.
  • Identify, lead, and champion process improvement initiatives, working collaboratively across teams to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and customer outcomes.
  • Support and guide team members through change initiatives with empathy and transparency, maintaining engagement, morale, and productivity.
  • Oversee the effective operation and maintenance of vehicles, equipment, and operational procedures of your teams.
  • Contribute to long-term business planning through the development of operational work plans and management of capital and operating budgets.
  • Champion a customer-first approach, ensuring customer needs are met while achieving experience targets and performance metrics.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team by fostering a positive and respectful work environment, ensuring strong safety practices, and driving operational excellence.
  • Maintain high levels of employee engagement, morale, and productivity through coaching, development, and inclusive leadership practices.
  • Administer the Collective Agreement, ensuring fair and consistent application.

  • A university degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • 7-10 years of leadership experience in a utility or related operational environment, with a strong focus on safety and customer service excellence

  • Experience in resource planning and utility financial management is considered an asset.
