Job Description

Job Title: Operations Manager (Gas Utility)

Location: Kamloops, British Columbia

Salary: $80,000 to $90,000 per year

Job Summary:

We are searching for an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to join our team in British Columbia. In the capacity of the Operations Manager, you will oversee and manage a team of Service Technicians who are responsible for the installation of gas meters for residential and small commercial clients. You will ensure that all installations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with all regulatory standards. This position necessitates robust leadership, management, and technical skills, which encompass strategic planning, team development, a process-driven approach, and the attainment of goals.

Key Responsibilities
Management
  • Lead and manage multiple teams of Service Technicians.
  • Monitor performance and provide regular feedback and coaching.
  • Conduct evaluations and implement improvement plans as needed.
  • Work closely with PMO / Dispatch to provide field support, team coaching, and mentorship on customer relations, internal efficiency, schedule / time management, problem solving, and strategic planning.
  • Ensure all team members complete the training successfully and are prepared for field responsibilities.
Team Culture & Customer Relation
  • Promote and foster a positive team culture within a healthy organizational working environment.
  • Proactively build a strong relationship with the customer and maintain an efficient chain of communication.
Quality, Safety, Documentation
  • Work with PMO on conducting regular safety audits and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Manage safety incidents, accidents, and compliance issues.
  • Review, audit, and file installation documentation and reports.
  • Report on team performance and project status to the PMO.
Travel & Role Requirements
  • 90% onsite / 10% Hybrid.
  • Attend regular meetings in person to lead and manage the teams onsite.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 3+ years of operations management experience is an asset.
  • Proven track record to coach and lead field service teams (efficiency, safety, quality, performance, process, etc.)
  • Experience in the gas meter installation industry or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience within Field Service is considered an asset.
  • Skills and Competencies: Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Effective communication and people skills.
  • High level of technical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Process driven.
  • Certifications and Licenses: A Class B license for gas fitting valid in British Columbia is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license, abstract required.
  • Criminal background check required.
