Job Title : Operations Manager Department : Operations Reporting to : Vice President of Operations Location : Daily Bread Food Bank, 191 New Toronto Street, Etobicoke, is the location of our operation.
Salary : $86,000-$101,000 per annum, commensurate with experience Terms : Full‑time, Permanent role Work Hours : Monday‑Friday, 35 hours per week; need to work extra hours when deemed necessary from time to time.

Position Overview An experienced Operations Manager to lead our warehouse operations which includes the warehouse pick, machine operator, receiving, shipping, inventory storage, transportation and delivery planning.
This role is critical to ensuring efficient order fulfillment, optimal inventory flow, and timely delivery while maintaining high standards of productivity and accuracy for the food bank agencies across the city of Toronto. Daily Bread distributed to 200+ programs across the city on daily, weekly and bi‑weekly basis shipping over 800,000lbs of food each week and receiving similar lbs in purchased and donated food. Key Responsibilities Warehouse Team Management Lead, coach, and develop the warehouse team to meet daily order fulfillment targets Teach, lead and coach volunteers for warehouse and transportation roles Hold team accountable to productivity standards aligned with established performance metrics.
Create work schedules and allocate resources based on order volume and priorities Implement best practices for picking accuracy, speed, and safety Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback to team members, machine operators and volunteers.
Inventory Flow Management Oversee end‑to‑end inventory storage management from receiving through to shipment Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with procurement / planning teams to prevent stockouts, overstock situations and inventory utilization Implement inventory control procedures to maintain accuracy and minimize shrinkage Optimize warehouse layout and slotting strategies to improve picking efficiency Coordinate with Inventory team to Conduct regular cycle counts and annual physical inventory audits Productivity & Continuous Improvement Analyze operational data to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement Set and monitor KPIs including pick rates, order accuracy, on‑time shipments, and labor efficiency Drive process improvements using lean methodologies and best practices Implement technology solutions and automation where appropriate to enhance productivity Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for all warehouse functions Transportation Team Oversight Coordinate with Assistant Operations Manager on fleet planning and routing ensure timely and cost‑effective shipments Optimize load planning balance cost and service levels Monitor delivery performance and address any transportation‑related issues Ensure compliance with shipping regulations and safety standards Build and maintain relationships with drivers, vendors and 3PL carriers (hired or donors) Cross‑Functional Collaboration Partner with Development Team, Programs & Services, Production Hall, Quality, Inventory Control to meet Agency requirements Communicate proactively about capacity constraints, delays, or issues affecting service Collaborate with peer teams on process and system enhancements Support new agency launches, donor and events that require special handling Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience) 7+ years of progressive experience in warehouse or distribution center operations 3+ years of people management experience, including direct supervision of hourly teams Strong knowledge of inventory management principles and warehouse operations Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and transportation management systems (TMS) Proven track record of driving operational excellence and productivity improvements Preferred Qualifications Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) Experience in food industry Familiarity with warehouse systems and technologies APICS or other supply chain professional certification Key Competencies Leadership : Ability to motivate and develop teams in a fast‑paced environment Analytical Thinking : Data‑driven approach to problem‑solving and decision‑making Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels Adaptability : Comfortable managing change and handling multiple priorities simultaneously Results‑Oriented : Strong focus on meeting targets and continuous improvement Attention to Detail : Ensures accuracy while maintaining efficiency Physical Requirements Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures Comfortable standing and walking for extended periods Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Please send your resume and cover letter by 11 : 59PM EST, Sunday, November 23, 2025 WORKING CONDITIONS Daily Bread Food Bank, 191 New Toronto Street, Etobicoke, is the location of our operation.
