Job summary

Tayco in Ontario is seeking an Operations Improvement Coordinator to participate in, implement and coordinate improvement projects across the manufacturing organization. You will analyze processes, develop new workflows and support lean initiatives to raise production velocity.

You will collaborate with office and production teams, perform root-cause analyses, maintain SOPs and work instructions, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or mechanical engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of LEAN, PDCA, poke-yoke, etc.
  • Familiarity with SQL queries is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Power BI or Tableau for reporting.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with cross-functional departments.
  • Proficient with ERP/MES systems for manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Create and promote an environment and culture of continuous improvement throughout Tayco.
  • Design and implement programs and processes that are scalable for company growth.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with various departments.
  • Perform root cause analysis to mitigate operational issues using approved methodologies.
  • Support maintenance and changes to process setups, SOPs, and process flow diagrams.
  • Develop internal manufacturing systems and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Provide data or metrics to support projects and initiatives.
  • Promote and implement Best Practices and a safe work environment.
  • Coordinate tasks across departments and sustain implemented improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Operations Improvement Coordinator will assist in the participation, implementation and coordination of various improvement projects and initiatives throughout the organization. The position will support the improvement of existing processes, development of new processes and enhancement of the current manufacturing systems. Activities may include performing root cause analysis, verification and validation of data, collection & data analysis, QC auditing, and participating in process and system development meetings.

The successful candidate will also work with the office and production teams to improve the working environment and production velocity. This individual would increase Company awareness for best practices, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Create and promote an environment and culture of continuous improvement throughout Tayco.
  • Play a key role in the design and implementation of programs and processes that are sustainable, integrated and provide scale for further company growth.
  • Work cross-functionally to collaborate with various departments.
  • Perform root cause analysis using problem solving methodologies (i.e. 5Why, Fishbone, etc.) to mitigate or eliminate operational issues.
  • Supports the maintenance, development, and changes to operational process and manufacturing process setups - BOMs, routings (BOO), work instructions, SOPs, testing and process flow diagrams.
  • Supports the development of internal manufacturing systems.
  • Identify improvement opportunities throughout the organization.
  • Provide data and/or metrics to support the project and/or initiatives.
  • Promote the adoption of Best Practises throughout the organization.
  • Promote and create a safe environment for Team Members to work.
  • Coordinate with various departments on the completion of tasks required on various improvement projects and/or initiatives.
  • Aid in the maintenance of programs and/or initiatives to sustain implemented improvements
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or mechanical engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a high-mix, low-volume or manufactured/engineered to order manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of Improvement Tools and Techniques (LEAN, PDCA, poke-yoke, etc.)
  • Familiarity with using SQL Query an asset.
  • Familiarity with Business Intelligence software (i.e. Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
  • The ability to produce succinct reports/presentations to communicate status of assigned projects/tasks.
  • Familiarly with using ERP/MES system for manufacturing.
  • Ability to communication clearly with cross-functional departments.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Quality Control background including problem solving and root cause analysis an asset.
  • Sound technical background (hands-on) with logical deductive reasoning approach.
  • Interest in developing technical skills through both internal and external training.
  • Exceptional task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques.
  • Conviction to improve personally and support continuous improvement in the department and company as a whole.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft software.
  • High level of personal integrity.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective time management skills.

Working Conditions

  • Some travel may be required.

Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000
