About the Role

This role is a weekend shift position (3 × 12 hrs, Fri/Sat/Sun) that is an integral part of the Operations Engineering – Systems team as well as the Weekend Operations team. It focuses on ensuring the highest quality product is manufactured through efforts that bolster safe operations while enhancing quality and efficiency. The role requires working with cross‑functional teams, applying organizational and troubleshooting fundamentals, and cultivating robust manufacturing through understanding system‑level interactions between hardware, software, and firmware.

Responsibilities
  • Must be a team player with the ability to interact and communicate effectively with team members across the weekend shift, the OE team, and other groups within the business.
  • Act as a point of contact for assisting and leading troubleshooting of system level mechanical, electro‑mechanical, and electro‑optical manufacturing issues.
  • Develop a strong understanding of WESCAM manufacturing processes and design requirements.
  • Collaborate across shifts and teams to support new test software and test equipment.
  • Maintain and design manufacturing processes within Systems Operations Engineering.
  • Participate in supporting projects related to New Product Introduction (NPI) or Sustaining Product.
  • Possess the agility to manage and drive small‑scale projects.
  • Analyze trends, events, and manufacturing challenges with the goal of eliminating their impact on various areas of the business.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and projects using the following principles:
    • Safety, Design for Manufacturability, and Ergonomics
    • Process Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (PFMEA)
    • Lessons Learned and Waste Reduction using Six Sigma philosophy.
  • Conduct 8‑D root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Assess Engineering/Production Change Requests and own the implementation of the changes as required.
  • Act as a back‑up point of contact to your peers on the team as required.
  • Support any other business priorities as required by Operations Engineering leadership.

Experience & Education Requirements
  • Must have a well‑rounded engineering and/or process background with manufacturing engineering experience in a high‑tech environment (preferred).
  • University degree, or 3‑year college diploma coupled with relevant work experience in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing or Systems Engineering.
  • Lean Green Belt Certification or equivalent industry experience.
  • PMP designation an asset, but not required.
  • P.Eng or C.E.T designation an asset, but not required.
  • AS9100 knowledge and experience an asset, but not required.
  • C# or similar coding language an asset, but not required.
