Job Summary

With thousands of shipments moving across Western Canada each night, behind-the-scenes precision is everything and that is where you come in. We are looking for an Operations Clerk to be the backbone of our evening shift team. In this fast-paced role, you will help ensure every shipment is tracked, processed, and moved with precision. From handling critical freight data to supporting our ops team with day-to-day coordination, you will play a key role in keeping things on track. If you are tech-savvy, detail-driven, and thrive in a team environment where no two nights are the same this could be the perfect fit.

5:00PM – 1:30AM Monday to Friday

About Us

Van-Kam Freightways Ltd. (Van Kam) is one of the largest regional carriers in Western Canada specializing in less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation. With 8 terminal locations across British Columbia, we fulfill shipments to communities within 1-3 days throughout BC and Alberta. Between our own resources and our partner network, our coverage extends beyond Western Canada into the U.S. and Eastern Canada.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure timely and accurate handling of all inbound and outbound freight.
  • Perform accurate data entry for shipment details, freight documentation, and system updates.
  • Assist in preparing shipping and receiving documentation.
  • Support the evening operations team with administrative and clerical tasks.
  • Crosstrain and be available to work day shifts as needed (e.g., coverage for vacation or sick leave).
  • Assist with customs documentation and ensure shipments meet customs compliance requirements.
Qualifications: Required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to details is a key function.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Excellent data entry and keyboarding skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and dependable.
  • Flexible and willing to learn and adapt to new processes.
Preferred
  • Experience in the freight, logistics, or transportation industry is an asset.
  • Familiarity with AS400 systems or other freight management platforms is an asset.
  • Prior clerical or operations support experience is preferred.
