Overview

The Operations and Maintenance Manager – Ontario and Western Canada is responsible for the operation and maintenance of Kruger’s Ontario and British Columbia assets to maximize short- and long-term energy production.

Reporting

The Operations and Maintenance Manager – Ontario and Western Canada, reports to the General Manager, Canadian and Guatemalan Operations.

Accountabilities
  • Responsible for implementing/improving/applying the Health and Safety rules on all sites, through audits.
  • Responsible for the Environmental management on all sites.
  • Oversee the operations and maintenance of the 2 wind farms, hydro site and battery storage.
  • Review the maintenance standards documentation applicable to the technology.
  • Prepare Operating budgets and make sure we meet them monthly.
  • Maintain good relations with the local communities (First Nations, Neighbors, City Council) around the facilities, specifically our partner landowners.
  • Maintain good relations and compliance with regulatory authority at the Federal, Provincial and Municipal Level.
  • Maintain overall equipment availability and efficiency, ensuring production results, and overall risk management; communicate results and make necessary recommendations to Kruger’s management.
  • Manage continuous improvement activities on all sites to reduce downtime and increase productivity.
  • Assist the lead tech, BOP and major components, in work at the facility and budget approvals.
  • Manage the CMMS program across all Kruger Energy (eMaint) and act as a superuser.
  • Ensure energy production is maximized, and production budgets are achieved.
  • Implement objectives and development plans for direct reports.
  • Ensure that the operating costs of the projects are controlled to meet the approved budgets.
  • Assist in new projects to develop energy in wind, hydro, solar and battery storage across the region.
  • Participate in life extension studies and repowering projects within existing facilities.
  • Participate in renewal of operational licence and electricity purchase agreements with the utilities (BC and Ontario).
  • Lead site automation initiatives, enabling remote operation capabilities for all facilities.
  • Involve in asset acquisition of power generation projects.
Qualifications
  • Technical background and/or Engineering degree.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience managing a technical team.
  • Experience managing contracts and contractors.
  • Proficiency in MS Office toolsd.
  • Available for business travel (approximately 20% of the time).

All supervisory personnel have a duty to identify, control and eliminate hazards to workers. They must take the necessary measures to protect health and ensure the safety and physical integrity of the workers.
