Are you someone who is passionate about data with superior analytical exploration, modeling and visualization skills and more than 2 years of practical experience in analyzing business data? If so, consider applying your skills and experience to a Data Scientist position in the Canadian Shared Services team.

We are looking for someone to focus on forecasting demand, creating models and analyzing this role you will dig deep into business data to generate insight and recommendations based on your findings and communicate those with senior leaders and other stakeholders. The role requires creative problem-solving ability, teamwork, excellent communication and presentation skills, a willingness to try new techniques and the ability to handle several diverse and concurrent projects. The results of your work will be used for operational decision making and identifying continuous improvement opportunities.

What Will You Do
  • Investigate business processes and design, maintain and refine models of business workflow
  • Collect, manipulate and analyze data to forecast demand for several diverse business units
  • Work within a team to provide analysis insights and recommendations to senior business leaders to help them recognize areas of opportunity and drive evidence-based operational decisions
  • Formally apply statistical/scientific rigor to analysis of data
  • Look for ways to innovate and improve processes in a continuous improvement environment
What you need to succeed
  • One plus year of experience in data analysis with an emphasis on forecasting or predictive analysis
  • Experience building models on multiple toolsets: Python, AWS SageMaker
  • Should be able to visualize model outcomes with other data on visualization platform like Tableau or Power BI
  • Familiarity with querying data using SQL
  • Experience analyzing and modeling business process data
  • Strong critical thinking & creative problem solving
  • Demonstrated experience working with data including transformation, manipulation, forecasting and statistical modeling
  • Experience using a variety of data analysis methods and forecasting techniques, including statistical and simulation-based approaches
  • Experience working with time series data using a variety of forecasting methods
  • Experience measuring and interpreting forecast accuracy
  • Ability to assess model validity and appropriateness
  • Demonstrated ability to produce and communicate meaningful results from data
  • Ability to effectively visualize and present complex data adapted to a variety of audiences
  • For Quebec, bilingualism (French & English both oral and written) is required for frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.
Preferred Skills
  • Minimum of a Bachelor degree in Statistics, Operations Research, Management Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Econometrics or equivalent experience
Assets
  • Experience with Workforce Management Software (IEX Genesys)
  • Experience using large databases with complex relationships between tables
  • Experience working with Call Centre data; understanding of queuing theory and Call Centre mathematics

Base Pay range: $58,000 – $93,000. The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other additions to Base Pay. Eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans; payment is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales-focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
