A regional healthcare provider in Timmins seeks a Nephrology/Oncology Clerk to support outpatient services by performing clerical and receptionist duties. Job description

Reporting to the Unit Manager, the nephrology/oncology clerk will perform all clerical and receptionist duties as assigned for both outpatient and recurring patients including data collection and submission.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Must possess the ability to perform routine office procedures and perform clerical duties (typing, filing, answering the telephones) timely and accurately.
  • To adhere to Hospital policies and procedures
  • Must be able to support, enter and maintain data reports required for the units as directed.
  • Must be familiar with the payroll system, Cancer Care Ontario and Ontario Renal Reporting data collection and submission.

Must possess the ability to perform adequately under stress when confronted with the critical or unexpected in a fast paced environment.

  • Must be self-directed
  • Must be able to assemble and maintain complete patient records according to each outpatient unit’s requirements.
  • Must be able to receive information for clinical bookings, arrange appropriate follow-up and make necessary bookings and appointments according to reoccurring and clinic requirements.
  • Must be able to complete order entry.
  • Must be able to order stores supplies, outpatient supplies, photocopy, fax.
  • Must possess the ability to interpret follow up orders and transfer laboratory results to patient charts as required.
  • Must possess the ability to handle highly sensitive information confidentially.
  • Must ensure hand over of information to colleagues occurs when required
  • Must maintain a clean and orderly workstation
  • To perform other duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be a graduate of a College Office Administration program as well as have medical terminology experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Meditech are a requirement
  • Must have good interpersonal and communications skills to deal with patients, visitors and professional team
  • Must possess the physical ability to work while sitting; to bend, reach, lift and crouch when using departmental files and to travel distances in the department and hospital.
  • Must be organized.
  • Must have knowledge base of Cancer Care Ontario plan initiatives
  • Must possess a positive attitude that supports change and offers solutions to challenges.
  • Employment history demonstrates regular attendance at work and flexibility of hours.
  • Must possess the ability to provide effective services to clients/patients in both English and French. Individuals who do not meet the language requirements of this posting are invited to submit their résumé for future consideration.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Start salary of $26.45/hour; $51,577.50/year (As per Step 1 of the STW collective agreement.)
  • Option to enroll in Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan.
