Job summary

Cold Lake Bus Lines is seeking an On-Call Transit Assistant to monitor the transit system during evenings and Saturdays, reporting issues promptly to supervisors. The role supports dispatch, scheduling, and fair route coverage while maintaining professional conduct and confidentiality.

Experience in transit or related transportation fields is preferred; strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential to liaise with drivers and the public and to ensure safe, compliant operations

Qualifications

• Previous transit or transportation industry experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally while maintaining confidentiality and diplomacy.
• HOS and auditing experience considered an asset.
• Expertise in organizational planning and problem-solving.
• Knowledge of WCB and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
• Computer proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Monitor Transit operations in evenings and Saturdays and escalate concerns to the Transit Supervisor and Operations Manager.
• Assist the Transit Supervisor in delegating responsibilities to Transit Operators and in scheduling monthly hours.
• Help ensure routes are covered efficiently and fairly.
• Ensure drivers and staff are treated with fairness and consistency per the Driver's Handbook.
• Meet monthly with Transit Drivers to discuss issues.
• Assist in answering public and driver inquiries and finding solutions.

On-Call Transit Assistant

Cold Lake Bus Lines offers and opportunity that is always exciting and varied day to day.

The On-Call Transit Assistant role is a hands-on position that requires a strong knowledge of the transportation industry and the area surrounding Cold Lake.

This is a remote position - work from home (must be in Cold Lake).

This role involves radio monitoring of the Transit System during specified hours.

• Monday to Friday: 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm
• Saturday: Operating hours are 8:30 am to 9:30 pm; exact shift will vary

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitor Transit operations in evenings and Saturdays and expedite any concerns immediately to the Transit Supervisor and Operations Manager
• Assist the Transit Supervisor in delegating responsibilities to Transit Operators; scheduling monthly hours
• Assist the Transit Supervisor in ensuring the routes are covered in an efficient and fair manner
• Ensure that drivers and staff are treated in a fair and consistent manner using the guidelines and rules set down in the Driver's Handbook
• Meet monthly with the Transit Drivers to discuss issues
• Assist in answering public and driver inquiries and finding solutions to concerns
• Inform Training & Development of open routes and monitor progression of new trainees
• Liaise with customer
• Respond to potential on call situations in transit unit movement or covering transit routes and support other operation needs where needed
