Job summary

Fitzrovia is seeking an On-Call Early Childhood Assistant to support Bloomsbury Academy classrooms across Toronto locations. You will work under the supervision of the Director/Supervisor and collaborate with the RECE to deliver developmentally appropriate activities for children aged 18 months to 6 years.

This on-call position pays $20 per hour and offers vacation pay as per the Employment Standards Act. Applicants should have an ECA certification or related post-secondary education, and be

Qualifications

• Early Childhood Assistant certification or equivalent, asset.
• One year of experience with children in a licensed setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of CCEYA, ELECT and How Does Learning Happen? is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support developmentally appropriate activities and routines for children 18 months to 6 years.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and emotionally supportive environment.
• Prepare and organize learning materials and classroom environments.
• Engage with children through play, conversations, and routines to foster independence.
• Supervise children during indoor/outdoor play, meals, and transitions.
• Observe and report on children's interests and well-being to RECE or supervisor.
• Assist with daily classroom operations, attendance, cleanliness, and safety checks.
• Maintain positive interactions with families and communicate program updates.
