Job summary

Atira Development Society in Downtown Eastside is seeking a Casual/On-call Building Services Worker to perform cleaning and maintenance in common areas, bathrooms, kitchens, and stairs. This relief/on-call role reports to the Program Manager and requires physical stamina and adherence to safety standards.

The role involves dusting, polishing, window cleaning, waste disposal, and reporting damages to the Building Manager.

Qualifications

• Proven initiative, judgement, decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain rapport with tenants, co-workers and stakeholders.
• Ability to organize and carry out work with independence.
• Physical ability to perform heavy cleaning duties.
• WHMIS certificate is required.
• A valid First Aid certificate is required.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificate is an asset.
• Criminal records review may be required (paid by Atira).
• Fluency in a language other than English is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Wash and clean floors and carpets, bathrooms, kitchens and common areas.
• Clean stairwells, windows, dust and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Dispose of refuse and report damages to Building Manager.
