Job description

SUMMIT Inspection Services Ltd. is seeking a certified, self-motivated and safety oriented individual for a full-time hourly site OHS Coordinator position. This safety role is an entry level position that requires regular air travel with a scheduled 14‑day on/off fly in fly‑out position (hubs in Calgary and Edmonton) responsible for conducting health and safety activities to support the HSE Manager and company onsite activities. The ideal candidate will require strong attention to detail, exceptional communication skills and a passion for health and safety who is seeking growth and development in their career.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • HSE and/or Oil and Gas experience considered an asset (2 to 4 years considered an asset)
  • Certificate or diploma in health and safety or in a related field considered an asset
  • Strong work ethic with excellent communication skills
  • The ability to maintain positive working relations with co‑workers and clients
  • Exceptional safety and quality awareness
Responsibilities:
  • Communicate to onsite personnel relevant safe work standards, practices, procedures, and regulations
  • Evaluate work activities to determine potential hazards and ensure that adequate controls are in place
  • Assess and support safe work practices and procedures for compliance with all governing bodies
  • Participate in onsite inspections, hazard assessments, safety meetings and field audits
  • Responsible to assist management and leadership in incident investigations ensuring they are actioned, and mitigated to determine root causes and corrective actions are identified and implemented
  • Review PPE inventory requirements to meet safety standards
  • Assist with development and implementation of the Joint Work Site Health & Safety Committee
  • Comply with all formal communication and reporting expectations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), knowledge of Avetta, Comply works and ISN considered an asset
  • Training staff on SUMMIT’s Health, Safety and Environmental Manual
  • Assist HSE Manager in safety audits as required by policy and legislative requirements
  • Coordinate HSE training adhering to company and client requirements
  • Collaborate with HSE Manager to measure relevant safety statistics, review policies and procedures, and on safety initiatives
  • Conduct safety meetings with onsite staff daily
  • Stop any jobs that are deemed unsafe and lead the way to attempt to resolve issues
  • Miscellaneous administrative duties as necessary
