About the Role

The Officer, Events & Projects is responsible for leading the planning and execution of Food Banks Canada’s major events and supporting the management of cross‑functional projects. Reporting to the Project Manager, this role will focus on the planning and execution of all major events for Food Banks Canada. In addition, the Officer, Events and Projects will provide project coordination support across other organizational initiatives and projects, ensuring smooth operations, cross‑functional integration, and timely delivery of projects.

What You Will Be Doing

• Lead the execution of major events including, but not limited to, After The Bell Packing event, Food Banks Canada’s national conference, and the food insecurity summit, including coordination with vendors, volunteers, partners and internal teams.
• Lead event planning and delivery including establishing requirements, managing timelines, monitoring budgets, facilitating communications, and managing stakeholder engagement.
• Liaise with internal teams (e.g., Communications, Marketing, Partnerships, National Programs) and external partners to ensure successful event outcomes and project deliverables.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager to support the management of cross‑functional projects (e.g., HungerCount report, Poverty Report Cards, After the Bell), assisting with scheduling, documentation, reporting, and follow‑up.
• Support the Project Manager with developing and maintaining project plans, event checklists, budgets, risk registers and other tracking tools to monitor project progress and ensure delivery within established budgets and timelines.
• Assist with development and procurement of materials, swag, and collateral, working with vendors and internal stakeholders to establish requirements, designs, and approvals.
• Contribute to post‑event evaluations, lessons learned, and continuous improvement processes.
• Provide additional project coordination support, as assigned by the Project Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need

• Completion of an undergraduate degree or equivalent in event management, project management, communications, or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of professional experience in event planning, project coordination, or a related role, preferably in a not‑for‑profit or charitable organization.
• Strong project coordination and event planning skills, with experience managing large events with complex logistics and multiple stakeholders.
• Certification in Event Planning or Project Management (e.g., Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) through MPI, Project Management Professional (PMP), or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is considered an asset).
• Experience developing and managing event budgets and timelines.
• Experience with contract negotiations and management of vendor relationships.
• Experience coordinating multi‑stakeholder projects with cross‑functional teams.
• Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.

Working Conditions

• Full‑time, Monday‑Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work.
• This position is remote and may be based anywhere in Canada.
• Occasional travel within Canada will be a part of this role.
