Job summary

Memorial University’s School of Ocean Technology in Holyrood, NL seeks a Small Vessel Operator III for on-call research and technical support. Responsibilities include operating vessels, maintaining safety, and assisting with admin tasks and reporting.

Candidate will contribute to industrial and academic projects with MI and CTec, while upholding professional conduct and safety standards in field conditions by water.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years related experience in marine/ocean technology.
• Must hold Small Vessel Operator Proficiency Training Course.
• Must hold Restricted Operator Certificate.
• Must hold a valid First Aid Certificate.
• Experience at post-secondary level is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Operate vessels and perform marine and administrative project tasks.
• Ensure passenger safety and comply with Transport Canada and MI seafarer regulations.
• Maintain records such as passenger manifests, procedures, maintenance logs, fuel records and incident reports.
• Contribute to research/project work with industrial clients or academic partners via SOT/CTec, MI International or collaborations.
• Represent the institute professionally and maintain safety-minded conduct while outdoors near water.
