Job summary

Lifemark Physiotherapy Kamloops is seeking an Occupational Therapist to support clients in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. You will create tailored rehabilitation plans, support return-to-work, and address physical, cognitive, or emotional challenges to improve independence and quality of life.

Applicants may be new grads or internationally educated, with a BC licensed or eligible status. A valid driver's license is a plus as travel between clinics may be required.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Knowledge of Occupational Therapy standards and scope of practice.
• Registered with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia in good standing.
• 1–3 years of OT experience preferred; newly licensed graduates accepted.
• Valid drivers license a plus.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate safe and timely return to work for injured/ill employees.
• Assess physical, cognitive, and psychological functions and job demands.
• Develop tailored plans for return-to-work or alternate duties.
• Create programs to improve job readiness and physical health.
• Provide exercises, functional tasks, and cognitive strategies.
• Teach mindfulness, relaxation, and sleep hygiene techniques.
• Educate clients and employers about recovery and the plan.
• Support through work simulation and conditioning programs.
• Document assessments and treatments in charts.

Your impact

You willfacilitate a safe, timely, and sustainable return to work for employees after injury, illness, or disability by analyzing the intersection of the worker's functional abilities and the job's demands. In this role, you will:

• Evaluate the worker's physical, cognitive, and psychological functions, as well as job demands and workplace environment
• Develop tailored plans to help workers return to their pre-injury roles or alternative work.
• Design personalised programs to enhance job readiness, promote physical health and increase the chances of long-term employment success
• Perform clinical evaluations,provide exercises, functional tasks, and cognitive strategies (e.g., pacing, energy conservation) to address injury-related deficits.
• Teach techniques like mindfulness, relaxation, and sleep hygiene to manage pain, fatigue, and emotional distress.
• Provide educationto theclientand employer about the recovery process, the benefits of staying connected to work, and their roles in the plan.
• Provide tailored support through work simulation activities and work conditioning programs
• Record assessment and treatment interventions in the client's chart
• Excel in a collaborative, inter-disciplinary team environment
• Exhibit sound professional judgment

As one of the largest networks of OTs in the nation, you will work within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment, delivering high-quality, client-centred care across multiple clinics or specific clinics and community settings. Key skills and qualifications include:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of current Occupational Therapy standards, modalities and scope of practice; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Registered and in good standing with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia.
• 1-3 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist is preferred.
• Newly Licensed Graduates are accepted.
• Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle, a plus.

Other Requirements

• Clinical experience is an asset in areas such as return to work/brain injury/neurological rehabilitation, mental health, musculoskeletal/orthopedic injury, and home safety ergonomics.
• Passion for your profession and commitment to ongoing professional development
• Superior interpersonal relations, communication, problem-solving, time management, computer and documentation skills
• Proficiency in computer skills
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
