Job summary

Spectrum Health Care, via its CAR division, seeks Registered Occupational Therapists with pediatrics experience to deliver ministry-funded services in clients’ homes and through virtual care across Ontario. The role is flexible, with part-time or full-time opportunities and earnings tied to per-visit compensation.

Ideal candidates will be registered with COTO, capable of independent practice, and able to travel in the community.

Qualifications

• Registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO).
• Ability to work independently within a community-based model.
• Experience with pediatric populations is an asset.
• Strong communication, documentation, and clinical reasoning skills.
• Valid G or G2 driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle for community travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide ministry-funded, community-based occupational therapy services in clients’ homes and/or via virtual care.
• Conduct assessments using interviews, standardized tools, and informal techniques (home safety, equipment, fall prevention, mobility, cognition, stroke rehab).
• Develop and implement evidence-based intervention plans with clients and caregivers.
• Assign, supervise, and monitor occupational therapy assistants as appropriate.
• Educate clients and caregivers and connect them with relevant community resources.
• Complete funding applications when required.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation (assessments, care plans, progress and discharge summaries, reports).

This independent contractor role offers a highly flexible work schedule, with part‑time or full‑time opportunities based on your preferred case load. Compensation is per visit, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality, client‑centered care. Estimated annual earning potential is between $82,000 - $102,000, however actual earnings may vary based on service volumes.

Job Description

• Provide ministry-funded, community-based occupational therapy services in clients’ homes and/or through virtual care
• Conduct occupational therapy assessments using interviews, standardized tools, and informal assessment techniques, including:
  • Home safety and home modifications
  • Equipment prescription
  • Fall prevention
  • Mobility and physical functioning
  • Cognition
  • Stroke rehabilitation and chronic conditions
• Develop and implement evidence‑based intervention plans in collaboration with clients and caregivers
• Assign, supervise, and monitor occupational therapy assistants as appropriate
• Educate clients and caregivers and connect them with relevant community agencies and resources
• Complete funding applications when required
• Maintain accurate, timely, and professional documentation, including:
  • Assessment findings
  • Care plans
  • Progress and discharge summaries
  • Reports aligned with referral source requirements and COTO standards

Qualifications

• Registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO)
• Ability to work independently within a community‑based model
• Experience working with pediatric populations is considered a strong asset
• Strong communication, documentation, and clinical reasoning skills
• Experience in community practice is an asset, but new graduates are welcome
• Valid G or G2 driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle for community travel
• Proficiency with computer applications, including MS Office Suite and proprietary clinical software
