Job summary

A Canadian retail company in Ottawa is seeking an OHS Specialist to ensure compliance and support OHS needs at their distribution center and retail stores. The ideal candidate will have over 3 years of OHS training experience, strong knowledge of regulations, and be bilingual in English and French. Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in OHS training, preferably in retail, supply chain, or corporate setting.
  • Strong knowledge of OHS regulations, standards and best practices.
  • Experience in training facilitation.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate incident management including injury reporting.
  • Conduct audits and inspections to assess OHS compliance.
  • Deliver safety training programs integrated into employee development.
  • Implement and improve OHS programs based on audit findings.
  • Maintain and analyze OHS data to drive decisions.
  • Support the adoption of digital tools to enhance safety reporting.

Workplace Arrangements:

This role will follow a hybrid remote/onsite schedule. Applicants for this role can expect to work on-site from our Johnstown, Ontario Distribution Centre 2-3 days / week. They will spend 30-40% of their time travelling to stores in QC and ON.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance and support OHS needs.
  • Coordinate incident management, including return-to-work plans, injury reporting, and root cause analysis to minimize risks.
  • Conduct audits and inspections to assess OHS compliance, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Deliver safety training programs, partnering with leadership and HR to integrate them into employee development.
  • Implement and improve OHS programs while analyzing audit findings to enhance safety initiatives.
  • Maintain and analyze OHS data, using insights to drive decision-making and improve compliance.
  • Support the adoption of digital tools and automation to enhance safety reporting and streamline OHS processes.
What You'll Bring:
  • Bilingualism in English and French is essential to support our Quebec and Ontario stores
  • 3+ years of experience in OHS training, preferably in retail, supply chain, or corporate setting.
  • Strong knowledge of OHS regulations, standards and best practices.
  • Experience in training facilitation.
