About The Organization

Lake Shore Gold (a subsidiary of Pan American Silver) is located in Timmins, Ontario. The Bell Creek Complex, located approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Timmins, consists of an underground mine and processing facility. Mineralization is associated with the Porcupine-Destor fault system within the Abitibi greenstone belt, with ore mined by narrow vein longhole stoping methods. Ore is then transported to the surface via a modern 1080m deep shaft capable of 4800tpd.

About The Opportunity

We are looking to hire an Occupational Health Nurse to join our Timmins Operations team in Timmins, ON, on a contract basis for 12‑18 months. The schedule for this position is Monday‑Friday, 8 hrs/day or 4 on, 3 off, 10 hrs/day. Please note that this role requires relocation to the Timmins area and is not a camp‑based position. The role of the Occupational Health Nurse will be to promote and support employee health, safety, and wellness through medical care, case management, and health initiatives that foster a safe and healthy workplace.

Responsibilities
  • Provide First Aid/Primary Aid to employees
  • Assist with WSIB post‑occupational injury assessment and case management
  • Advise/assist with modified work activities as needed
  • Act as a resource for Human Resources for any non‑occupational RTW consultations as required
  • Support the management of employee health surveillance programs (i.e., lead, DPM, silica, etc.)
  • Support Diversity and Inclusion programming
  • Support the development of employee health and wellness programming including mental health and healthy lifestyles initiatives
  • Support the development and review of ergonomics and job task/physical demands analysis
  • Develop health promotion initiatives (training/information sessions, bulletin boards)
  • Keep up to date with legal and professional changes associated with public health and occupational health and safety
  • Support the distribution of communications and education to all employees on trends/issues related to workplace health/safety
  • Maintain employee health records in a manner that ensures confidentiality and employee privacy
  • Perform any other duties as may be required

  • Undergraduate degree in Nursing, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2‑5 years of Nursing experience in acute care, occupational health, community health or public health
  • Access to a vehicle and valid driver’s license
  • WSIB/Injury/Return to Work Case management experience is considered an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn experientially
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada
