Job description

NorthStream Safety & Rehab is currently seeking to hire a full-time shift work Occupational Health Nurse. Our ideal candidate is experienced in occupational testing, specific to remote sites & mining industry, has a flexible schedule, and is able to provide references from previous employers and is ready to get started as soon as possible.

Job Type: 6-month contract with possible extension
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Dubreuilville, ON – fly/shuttle in/out 7 in 7 out.
Shifts: Night shift – 10 hours
Salary: Hourly: $40 – $55 per hour, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with Patient logs and forms.
  • Preparing required paperwork
  • Administer various occupational health tests
  • General office, cleaning and administrative duties
  • Adhering to proper infection prevention and control guidelines
  • Accurately collect and record information from patients as required
  • Creating a calm and positive experience for the clients
  • Quality Control of inventory and products
  • Assisting in the H&S program for the client
  • Providing emergency response
  • Following Physician Directives
  • Emergency response
  • Clinical Triage
  • Collaboration with clients, contractors, employees, and peers.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse Degree or Registered Practical Nurse Diploma (minimum), preference given to Occupational Health Background, but not required
  • Currently registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Demonstrated clinical competence with general medicine nursing skills
  • Previous experience working in a remote mine site setting is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within an interprofessional team, as well as independently
  • Excellent physical assessment skills, critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with diverse population groups
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to patient-centred care
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and educate patients and families
  • Demonstrated record of good performance and acceptable attendance will be considered as part of the selection criteria
  • Valid G Driver’s license
  • Ability to work shift work in a remote setting
  • Professional behaviour and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable.

Experience:

  • Occupational Health Care: 2 years (preferred)
  • Mine setting 2 years preferred

Licence/Certification:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) License or RPN license (required)

Willingness to travel:
• 100% (preferred)
Work Location: In person – 300 KM North of Sault Ste. Marie ON.
