Job summary

A community healthcare organization in Winnipeg is looking for an Occupational Therapist to provide therapy services to children with special needs in First Nations communities. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Occupational Therapy and relevant licensure, along with strong communication skills and the ability to work independently. Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years’ recent clinical experience in pediatric occupational therapy preferred.
  • Physical fitness for lifting and bending and handling clients.

Responsibilities :

The Rehabilitation Centre for Children is a community-based health care facility providing services to children with special needs and their families.

The Rehabilitation Centre for Children requires an Occupational Therapist who will provide therapy services in First Nations communities in Manitoba, Travel will be required. Most community travel will require overnight stays.

The Occupational therapist utilizes advanced skills and knowledge and performs at a high level of independence as a clinical practitioner, consultant and educator. Practices are in accordance with RCC policy and professional standards. This includes :

  • Collaboration First Nations, healthcare providers and community agencies who are involved with the client
  • Ongoing liaison with the child's caregivers
  • Assessment, intervention and development of goals with client and / or family
  • Participation in continuous quality improvement, client and staff education initiatives
Education, Licenses, Registration & Experience :
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Licensure by the College of Occupational Therapy of Manitoba (COTM)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Physical fitness for lifting and bending and handling clients
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within an inter-disciplinary team
  • Minimum of two years’ recent clinical experience in pediatric occupational therapy is preferred
