Overview

Position: OB/GYN at East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKRH) in Cranbrook. Join a dedicated team of OB/GYNs focused on patient-centred care, excellence in practice, and collaborative teamwork. The role emphasizes culturally competent care for diverse populations and a commitment to reducing disparities through community initiatives, with a focus on women, families, and the broader community. The department collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive women’s health services and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities
  • Manage approximately 800-900 deliveries annually, with exposure to a spectrum of interesting obstetric cases.
  • Provide care in well-equipped operating rooms, handling complex obstetric challenges from twin pregnancies to other intricate scenarios.
  • Deliver holistic care through the neonatal unit and collaborate with pediatricians, urologists, psychiatrists, internists, surgeons, and other specialists.
  • Work with four local midwives and family physicians to deliver comprehensive women’s health services.
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional advancement through regular CME sessions and bedside education with residents and medical students.
  • Participate in clinical audits, daily simulation trainings, and monthly morbidity and mortality rounds to stay at the forefront of best practices.
  • Pursue ongoing mentorship and leadership opportunities to elevate skills and shape the future of OB/GYN care.
  • Expand impact through rural health initiatives, including up to 35 annual surgical locum days in remote communities, with incentives and flexibility for long-term service.
  • Support urban healthcare delivery while increasing access for underserved populations in the East Kootenays.
Qualifications
  • You will hold, or be eligible for, licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
  • You will have coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) to practice medicine.
