Job summary

Southbridge Care Homes in Ontario is seeking a compassionate Nursing Scheduler for part-time evening shifts. Reporting to the Director of Care, you will manage daily nursing department schedules and perform clerical duties to support efficient resident care.

The role requires a post-secondary certificate in business or office administration and experience with staff scheduling, preferably in long-term care with familiarity of Point Click Care.

Qualifications

  • Post secondary certificate in business or office administration.
  • One year or more of experience in a similar position with working knowledge of general office operations.
  • Experience with scheduling of staff
  • Experience in Long Term Care with utilization of Point Click Care considered an asset
  • Pleasant telephone manner with strong customer service skills; strong interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and have exceptional time management skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite of applications

Responsibilities

  • Perform clerical duties for the Nursing department’s daily operation.
  • Adhere to policies regarding quality assurance, health and safety, environment, and infection control.
  • Assist with communications to Physicians for resident Physicals.
  • Attend nursing committee meetings and take minutes.
  • Respond to inquiries from residents, families, and staff and triage accordingly.
  • Maintain purchase orders and inventory for the Nursing department.
  • Ensure resident care supplies are distributed weekly to units.
  • Establish and confirm resident appointments with dental, specialists, etc.
  • Coordinate transportation and scheduling for residents’ appointments.
  • Input daily staff schedule changes and present to DOC for approval; prepare reports and maintain resident records.
  • Answer absentee calls, identify replacements, and track occurrences.
  • Interpret collective agreements for clarification purposes.
  • Organize Resident Files/Charts and post daily nursing schedules.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Other duties as required.

Nursing Scheduler- Part Time EveningsSouthbridge Care Homesiscurrently looking to add one caring, passionate, and enthusiastic Nursing Scheduler to our amazing home. On a daily basis, reporting to the Director of Care, our Nursing Scheduler at Southbridge Orchard Villawill enhance the effective management and performs administrative duties, reception operations and scheduling duties within the Nursing Department.

As a Nursing Scheduler, you will be accountable for:

  • Perform clerical duties associated with the daily operation for the Nursing department
  • Adhereto established policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, occupational health and safety, environment, and infection control
  • Assist with communication to Physicians for outstanding Physicals required by residents
  • Attend all nursing related committee meetings and take meeting minutes
  • Respondto inquiries and concerns from residents, families, and staff, triaging the inquiries accordingly
  • Maintainpurchase orders and inventory controls in relation to the Nursing department
  • Ensure that resident care supplies are distributed to all the units on a weekly basis
  • Establishand confirmresident dental, specialist, hairdressing, and outside appointments.
  • Ensure all transportations and schedule booked for residents (i.e.Dialysis appointments)
  • Input changes to the staff schedules daily and present them to DOC for approval; perform various clerical duties and prepare reports as required; maintain or assist in maintenance of resident records and files;
  • To answer absentee calls, identify replacement staff, and track and record all occurrences;
  • To interpret collective agreement for clarification purposes;
  • Organization of Resident Files/Charts on all Home Areas. Information includes but is not limited to Resident Admission, Discharge or Transfer To prepare and post the Nursing Department schedules as per contracts; prepare, post and maintain the daily nursing schedule, including making calls to staff;
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • Other duties as required

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Post Secondary Certificate in Business or office administration or related program.
  • One year or more of experience in a similar position with working knowledge of general office operations.
  • Experience with scheduling of staff
  • Experience in Long Term Care with utilization of Point Click Care considered an asset
  • Pleasant telephone manner with strong customer service skills Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and have exceptional time management skills
