Shift Times: 0700-1230 / 0700-1515

Rate of Pay: $20.77 - $26.02

The Opportunity

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Client Service Manager, the Health Care Aide (HCA) is an unregulated member of the interprofessional health care team who provides on-going client care. The HCA observes, monitors and reports on client status/condition including changes in physical and emotional status. The HCA ensures that changes in client status are reported to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

This position delivers prescribed medications accurately as per policy and procedure. In keeping with Carewest’s Frame of Reference, Philosophy of Care and Carewest policies this position maintains professional and ethical standards at all times. Responsible for other related duties as required.

Program Summary

Neuro Rehabilitation Program – for adults who have had a neurological injury, such as a stroke, and require additional assessment, recuperation and rehabilitation before returning to the community.

Qualifications and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required, plus graduation from an Alberta Government recognized Health Care Aide program
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English is required
  • Must be physically capable of managing the frequent lifting, transferring and repositioning of clients
  • Active and current registration in the Alberta HCA Directory required
  • Related experience in a health care facility is an asset. Program-specific training/experience is an asset
