Qualifications

• Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner Program.
• Masters Degree in Nursing.
• NP Registration in the RN-Extended Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario (NP-Primary Care, NP-Acute Care).
• Faculty appointment or eligibility to pursue faculty appointment at McMaster University School of Nursing.
• BCLS certified.
• Member of RNAO preferred.
• Recent related clinical experience of 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Completes comprehensive and advanced health history and physical assessment.
• Identifies and orders diagnostic tests and procedures according to approved medical directives within the scope of practice.
• Collects, interprets and analyzes data to formulate medical diagnoses within the scope of practice.
• Develops, implements and documents the medical plan of care for the patient.
• Works collaboratively with physicians and interprofessional team to develop rehabilitative plan of care.
• Prescribes pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies according to directives.
• Evaluates and revises plans of care based on patient responses.
• Performs invasive/non-invasive procedures as appropriate.
• Initiates interventions for urgent and emergent situations.
• Chairs interprofessional patient care rounds and documents outcomes.
• Provides leadership in program development and education.
