Job summary

Peterborough Regional Health Centre invites applications for a Nurse Practitioner in the Emergency Department. This temporary full-time position leads patient- and family-centered care, coordinating direct care, discharge planning and community resources in a fast-paced ED setting.

The ideal candidate will have an extended class NP registration, CNO NP program completion, ACLS, and 3–5 years of relevant ED experience, with strong leadership and teamwork skills to support timely patient flow.

Qualifications

• Current Certificate registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario in the extended class required.
• Completion of CNO-approved Nurse Practitioner program required.
• Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required.
• Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – required.
• Controlled substances education approved by CNO completed.
• Three to five years related clinical experience required.
• RNAO membership preferred.
• Master’s degree in nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and promote excellence in patient- and family-centered care through expert clinical practice, education and consultation.
• Address extended wait times to provider assessments and preventable disposition delays by prioritizing ED intake functions.
• Coordinate direct patient care, discharge planning, and related community and clinical resources.
• Work with the multidisciplinary team to provide advanced nursing care for emergent/urgent cases.
• Engage in ongoing continuing education to support integration of the NP role within the program.
• Additional accountabilities may be negotiated with NP and program leadership.
