Overview
Are you passionate about cardiac care and ready to make a lasting impact on patients’ lives? Our Atrial Fibrillation Clinic is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team focused on delivering exceptional, patient-centered care.
Reporting to the Nurse Practitioner Department Head for professional issues and to the Program Director for operational issues, the Nurse Practitioner is responsible and accountable for comprehensive assessment of/clients/residents, diagnosing diseases, disorders, and conditions, initiating treatment, prescribing medications in accordance with statutory and regulatory standards, and practicing autonomously within an interdisciplinary health care team. The role collaborates with patients and other health professionals to identify trends, develop population strategies, participate in peer review, and influence health policy.
Note: This is a temporary part‑time opportunity with an expected end date in February 2026.
Education
Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals and recent relevant clinical nursing experience. Completion of the Basic Cardiac Life Support Course, Level C. Eligible for appointment to the Providence Health Care Department of Nurse Practitioners as Medical Staff.

Your Day to Day
- Diagnose and treat previously undiagnosed patients/clients/residents for undifferentiated diseases, disorders, and conditions within scope; write orders, provide first-line emergency care and continuous care.
- Monitor ongoing care, order appropriate diagnostic investigations, interpret results and analyze information to monitor progress and plan treatment.
- Establish priorities for management of health; provide follow-up treatment; communicate with patients/clients/residents and families about findings, diagnoses, outcomes and prognoses; support and counsel patients/clients/residents.
- Collaborate and consult with physicians, the health care team and social service providers to determine appropriate resources; develop and implement treatment plans; may admit and discharge patients/clients/residents to facilities according to bylaws.
- Prescribe drugs within statutory and regulatory standards and employer policies.
- Assign work to other nursing and health care personnel; evaluate work, provide education and supervision as necessary; hire staff and evaluate performance.
- Participate in research and quality improvement to advance patient/client/resident care and population health.
- Maintain population health focus by implementing screening and health promotion activities for at-risk populations.
- Participate in education of nurse practitioner students and other health care professionals through preceptorship, role modelling and knowledge exchange.
- Develop, implement and evaluate policies and procedures related to nursing, interdisciplinary care and health system practices.
- Complete Encounter Records to evaluate Nurse Practitioner implementation as required by the Ministry of Health.
- Perform other duties as required.
