Job summary

Saskatchewan Health Authority in Yorkton is seeking an Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) to manage common acute and stable chronic conditions within primary care. Qualifications

  • BScN required and CRNS eligibility.
  • 1 year community development/health promotion experience.
  • 3 years full-time RN experience.
  • Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS).
  • Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner specialization preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced practice nursing with authority to order tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals and perform procedures.

Nurse blends an in-depth knowledge of nursing with the legal authority and autonomy to order diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals and perform specific procedures in the management and treatment of common acute illnesses and stable chronic conditions patients. Position practices within a framework of evidence-based primary care, holism, health promotion, and disease and injury prevention. Practice involves building partnerships with individuals, families, and communities. This includes community needs assessments; supporting inter-professional collaboration and participating in continuous improvements through evaluative processes/projects. provides clinical assessment and treatment strategies that reflect in-depth knowledge of the care populations.

Experience
  • One (1) year experience with community development/health promotion activities
  • Three years fulltime experience as a Registered Nurse
Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
Licenses
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
Other Education and Training
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Level C Certificate (BCLS)
  • Master of Nurse Practitioner is acceptable
  • Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Specialization
