Job Summary And Requirements

This posting will be used to fill 1 permanent full-time position working 75 bi-weekly. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list that may be used to fill similar positions. This job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the beautiful Yukon.

Who We Are

The Referred Care Clinic (RCC) is a primary care clinic for vulnerable adults with unstable mental health and/or substance use disorders. It operates alongside opioid treatment services, supporting residents who seek help in managing their opioid use. The RCC is a multidisciplinary team composed of outreach support workers, outreach licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, physicians, social workers and medical office assistants. The clinic is embedded within the Mental Wellness and Substance Use Services (MWSU) branch of government and works closely with the Withdrawal Management program.

Your role

As a Nurse Practitioner, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing high-quality person-centred and trauma-informed care to people seeking primary care and opioid treatment from MWSU. You will use your clinical expertise and understanding of theory to provide advanced assessments that guide treatment and improve health outcomes. The role also supports Opioid Treatment Services and may involve professional training to provide opioid agonist therapy when indicated.

Essential qualifications
  • Registered or eligible to be registered as a Nurse Practitioner and in good standing with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association

Conditions of employment
  • Current Nurse Practitioner registration in good standing with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association
  • RCMP Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector

  • Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence or equivalent
Job Requirements
  • Potential exposure to upset and verbally/physically abusive clients
  • Exposure to infectious materials (e.g., bodily fluids)
  • Periodical travel outside Yukon for conferences, meetings, or other professional development
  • Occasional travel for patient home visits or pop-up clinics at other community locations
  • Extended periods looking at a computer screen
  • Regular and extended use of computers for electronic medical record (EMR) documentation, clinical information systems, and other digital programs required for service delivery
