A governmental health agency in Yukon is hiring a Nurse Practitioner to join their team in Whitehorse. The ideal candidate will provide person-centred, trauma-informed care for individuals dealing with mental health and substance use challenges. Responsibilities include clinical assessments, collaborating with various healthcare professionals, and supporting Opioid Treatment Services. This posting will be used to fill 1 permanent full-time position working 75 bi-weekly. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list that may be used to fill similar positions. This job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the beautiful Yukon.
The Referred Care Clinic (RCC) is a primary care clinic for vulnerable adults with unstable mental health and/or substance use disorders. It operates alongside opioid treatment services, supporting residents who seek help in managing their opioid use. The RCC is a multidisciplinary team composed of outreach support workers, outreach licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, physicians, social workers and medical office assistants. The clinic is embedded within the Mental Wellness and Substance Use Services (MWSU) branch of government and works closely with the Withdrawal Management program.
As a Nurse Practitioner, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing high-quality person-centred and trauma-informed care to people seeking primary care and opioid treatment from MWSU. You will use your clinical expertise and understanding of theory to provide advanced assessments that guide treatment and improve health outcomes. The role also supports Opioid Treatment Services and may involve professional training to provide opioid agonist therapy when indicated.
