Job summary

Interior Health is seeking a term-specific part-time Nurse Practitioner to join the team at the Ktunaxa Nation Health Centre in Cranbrook, BC. The role focuses on mental health, substance use, and care for Indigenous and non-Indigenous populations, with outreach to East Kootenay communities.

Hours are 56.25 biweekly; on-call included; salary ranges from $76.61 to $84.27 per hour, with annual salary band based on qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

Job description

Interior Health is looking for a term specific part-time Nurse Practitioner to join our team in Cranbrook, BC at the Ktunaxa Nation Health Centre.

The newly opened Ktunaxa Nation Health Centre provides all ages health and wellness services for Ktunaxa members, their families and other Indigenous individuals living in Ktunaxa territory. Guided by a “circle of care” model, the centre brings together a diverse team of health professionals to support clients’ physical, mental, and emotional well‑being.

This team includes Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Outreach Licensed Practical Nurses, Foot Care Nurses, Counsellors, Mental Health and Addictions Support Workers, Social Workers, and Physiotherapists. Clients also benefit from access to visiting specialists, including an Internal Medicine Physician and a Psychiatrist. In addition to services at the Centre, health professionals provide outreach to East Kootenay communities, helping individuals and families navigate the health system and connect with the supports they need. Specifically, this NP will provide services within the Ktunaxa Nation Health Centre to Indigenous and non‑Indigenous individuals, with a focus on mental health, substance use, and marginalized populations. Cultural competency training would be an asset. The successful applicant will receive Ktunaxa cultural training as required. The position participates in peer and self‑review to evaluate outcomes of care at the patient, community, and population level.

Location: Located in downtown Cranbrook at 32 9th Avenue South, the newly opened Ktunaxa Nation Health Centre

Hours: 56.25 hours biweekly

Salary Range: Salary range for the position is $76.61/hour - $84.27/hour. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnosis and Treatment: Assess and diagnose undifferentiated diseases and conditions, provide treatment, and prescribe medications in line with the Nurse Practitioner’s scope of practice and regulatory standards.
• Care Management: Monitor ongoing care, order diagnostic investigations, interpret results, and develop tailored treatment plans to optimize patient outcomes.
• Patient Communication: Establish care priorities, provide follow‑up treatment, and communicate effectively with patients and families about diagnoses, care plans, and prognoses.
• Collaboration and Consultation: Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose, and create individualized treatment plans. May also admit and discharge patients as per organizational policies.
• Prescribing Medication: Prescribe medications within legal and regulatory guidelines, ensuring the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical treatments.
• Leadership and Supervision: Lead and guide other nursing and healthcare personnel. Provide education, supervision, and performance evaluations to support professional development.
• Research and Innovation: Contribute to research aimed at enhancing patient care and advancing nursing practices. Participate in initiatives to influence healthcare policies and population health strategies.
• Health Promotion: Lead health promotion activities and screenings, focusing on at‑risk populations to prevent illness and promote well‑being.
• Education and Mentorship: Facilitate interdisciplinary education through case presentations, mentoring, and collaboration in clinical and community settings. Support continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
