A regional health authority seeks a Public Health Nurse to join their team in Fort Qu'Appelle. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and have at least two years of public health experience. The role involves providing nursing services while promoting health-enhancing behaviors through community interventions and programs. This position offers a full-time contract with a salary ranging from $42.040 to $52.440 per hour, and includes responsibilities for planning and executing public health initiatives.
The Public Health Nurse (PHN), as an integral member of the Population and Public Health Services team, provides nursing services within the framework of the Population Health Promotion Model and Primary Health Care. The Public Health Nurse translates knowledge from the health and social sciences to support health‑enhancing behaviors of individuals, families and population groups through targeted interventions, programs, and advocacy. Inherent in this role are knowledge, skills, and abilities specific to health promotion, prevention, and protection. This employee works relatively independently and is expected to make decisions based on sound assessments in accordance with The Public Health Act, the policies of the Public Health Nursing program and the Health Authority, the SRNA Standards of Practice, the Canadian Community Health Nursing Standards of Practice, and other relevant legislation. This employee liaises with, and refers to, other health personnel, other sectors and community groups. The Public Health Nurse works within guidelines established by Health Authority policy to plan, organize, implement and evaluate nursing programs in an assigned area, under the direction and supervision of a Public Health Nursing supervisor.
