Job summary

The Belleville Emergency Department at Quinte Health is a fast-paced unit delivering care to a high-volume patient load. Our team includes RNs, RPNs, physicians, and a broad allied health group, with an extensive orientation program and one-on-one mentoring to support development.

You will lead care plans in collaboration with the interprofessional team, continuously assess patients, and contribute to improving practice within professional, legal and ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• ACLS certification required or obtainable within 6 months of start date.
• BLS/CPR certification or proof of enrolment in recertification.
• Completion of Coronary Care 1 or equivalent within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates leadership and critical thinking to assume incharge responsibility.
• Practices within professional, legal and ethical standards.
• Formulates and executes care plans with the interdisciplinary team.

Belleville is also a Schedule One facility for Psychiatry. Our Team is made up of RN's, RPN's, Physician's, Physician Assistant's as well as a multidisciplinary team of Physio, OT & Allied Health, all of whom practice with our corporate values in mind. We provide an extensive orientation program including classroom & mentoring one on one with a preceptor. Required

• Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current certification in ACLS or able obtain within 6 months of the commencement of the position
• Current certification in ACLS, or a minimum BLS or CPR, or proof of enrolment in a recertification course.
• Completion of Coronary Care 1 or equivalent (ex. QHC Cardio Concepts) or obtain within 6 months of the commencement of the position.
• Minimum 1-year recent acute care experience in a medical/surgical department within the last 2 years, or 6 consistent months' acute care experience in an ED environment (for example - transition pool or NGGI) or final Student BScN Consolidation within an ED or critical care environment
• Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload (Physical Demands Analysis available to review).

Duties

• Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills to assume incharge responsibility to function independently.
• Practices within the scope of professional, legal and ethical standards.
• Accountable to seek out and obtain education to enhance/improve practice.
• Formulates the plan of care in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Continuously assesses, monitors and evaluates data regarding the patients physical, emotional, and psycho-social status.
• Continuous analysis of data to formulate nursing response and interventions based on the patient/family wishes, priorities, and needs.
• Plans interventions in collaboration with the inter-professional care team to formulate an overall plan of care.
• Implements the established plan of care in collaboration with the inter-professional team using advanced skill and knowledge within his/her professional scope of practice.
• Evaluates patient outcomes in a manner consistent with independent and interdependent nursing functions.
• Other duties as assigned.
