Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Transportation Engineer to join our growing practice in Yellowknife or Whitehorse. This role offers a hybrid work environment with in-office requirements based on project needs and client meetings.

You will lead complex highway designs, support major northern corridors, and apply northern design considerations such as permafrost and remote logistics while coordinating with project managers and clients across Canada.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer designation in Canada or eligibility for registration in Yukon and/or Northwest Territories preferred.
• Minimum 6 years of highway/roadway design experience in northern, remote, or cold-region environments a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead and prepare complex engineering designs for urban and rural roadways, highways, and intersections.
• Support planning, design, and delivery of major northern transportation corridors.
• Apply northern design considerations (permafrost, remote logistics, climate resilience).
• Coordinate with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Review and seal designs; mentor junior staff.
