Job summary

A local educational institution in Cranbrook, Alberta, is seeking a temporary employee to supervise students during the lunch hour. Job description
JOB SUMMARY:

An employee hired to assist the administration in the supervision of students in and around the school during the regularly scheduled lunch hour, who is responsible to an assigned supervisor.

POSITION

This position is temporary until June 25, 2026.

HOURS OF WORK

Ten months per year position. When school is in session for students.

WAGE RATE

As per C.U.P.E Local 4165 Agreement $24.52

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Minimum six months' training or volunteer experience working with children in a group setting.
  • WCB Level 1 First Aid training or equivalent.
MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO
  • Communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate good judgment and appropriate intervention techniques regarding student behaviour.
  • Be self-directed, flexible and work independently.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain a positive manner with students and the public to contribute to the "tone" of the school.
  • Work with disagreeable and/or hostile conditions.
  • Be a role model for students.
  • Solve problems related to the position.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Assist in the supervision and safety of students in and around the school during the scheduled noon-hour break.
  • Maintain a high degree of visibility.
  • Maintain appropriate discipline.
  • Provide first alert and appropriate action for accidents and other potentially serious and/or dangerous situations, such as fights.
  • Report immediately all safety and discipline issues that require the attention of the supervisor or designate.
  • Administer first aid according to the level of qualification required.
  • Perform other job-related duties.
