Xenon Pharmaceuticals Inc. in Vancouver, BC, invites applications for a Research Associate 1 or 2, Biology, to join our team on a 1-year contract.

The role focuses on patch clamp electrophysiology in acute rodent brain slices, viral injections in neonatal mice, imaging-based assays, and cross-functional ex vivo pharmacology work.

The successful candidate will contribute to epilepsy research with rigorous data collection and collaboration in a fast-paced, inclusive lab.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Neuroscience or Pharmacology or related field.
• Up to two years of relevant experience.
• Practical experience with brain slices and electrophysiology is required.
• Excellent oral and written communication and attention to detail.

Aufgaben

• Independently design and execute electrophysiological recordings from brain slices.
• Aid ex vivo team with viral injections in neonatal mice for expression of exogenous proteins.
• Conduct tissue culture, immunohistochemistry and fluorescence microscopy as required.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support target validation and translational neuroscience studies.
• Maintain detailed records of experiments and data analysis.
• Prepare reports and presentations detailing function and capabilities of analysis toolboxes.
• Ensure safe, organized lab environment and adherence to Health & Safety policies.
• Maintain ELN entries and ensure monthly signatures.
• Adhere to company policies and participate in other duties as assigned.
