Location: Maritime Veterinary Emergency + Specialty Centre – Dartmouth, NS

Compensation
- $28–$34/hour, commensurate with experience and skill level.
Schedule
- Four 10-hour shifts, Tuesday–Friday
Note: As our Neurology service expands, there may be occasional after-hours or weekend surgical cases. Flexibility and a team-first mentality are key as we grow.

About the Role
As a Neurology RVT, you’ll play a vital role in delivering top-tier care to patients with neurologic conditions. Your responsibilities will include:
- Apply your expertise in critical care and anesthesia while continuing to learn and grow in the field of Neurology.
- Utilize your solid technical skills and anesthesia knowledge to provide optimal patient care, including monitoring anesthesia for procedures like CT and MRI.
- Perform a wide range of technical duties, including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, medication administration, digital radiography, patient prep and recovery, epidural administration, and anesthesia monitoring.
- Provide exceptional nursing care for non-ambulatory and paralyzed patients, including performing physiotherapy and educating owners on at-home care.
- Obtain and review detailed patient histories from client interviews and medical records with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Maintain meticulous medical records and ensure seamless communication and collaboration with the veterinary team.
- Be an integral part of patient appointments, assisting doctors and offering outstanding client communication and education.
- Advocate for patient well-being by delivering compassionate, attentive care and ensuring patient comfort and safety at all times.
- Handle client communications by providing patient updates, answering medical questions, and reviewing treatment plans with confidence and clarity.
- Assist with filling in-house prescriptions and calling pharmacies as needed.
- Prepare treatment estimates, go over them with pet owners, and manage billing and invoicing accurately and efficiently.
- Collaborate on departmental research projects to help advance the field of veterinary Neurology and improve patient outcomes.
- Foster long‑term relationships with colleagues, clients, and the community through teamwork, compassion, and professionalism.
About You
- A Registered Veterinary Technician with 2+ years of experience (preferably in anesthesia and/or critical care)
- Proficient in anesthesia induction, maintenance, and recovery
- Experienced in inpatient care, lab work, radiology, and critical thinking under pressure
- A compassionate team player who thrives in a collaborative setting
- A natural communicator who builds trust with clients and colleagues
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and eager to learn and grow
Qualifications
- Registered Veterinary Technician licensure required with the Eastern Veterinary Technicians Association (EVTA) and Nova Scotia Veterinary Medical Association (NSVMA)
