Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to head our Canadian Alternative Risk Financing practice. This role is responsible for shaping and implementing the national strategy, driving business growth, and delivering innovative risk financing solutions to our clients.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada. This role is not eligible for sponsorship, and we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa or work permit.

What the day will look like
  • Lead national strategy for Alternative Risk Financing, growing client relationships and driving growth.
  • Identify and contribute to business targets across individual, team, and national levels.
  • Manage a pipeline of new and expanded sales opportunities.
  • Conduct feasibility analysis for captives and reciprocals, including financials, coverage, domicile, and compliance.
  • Monitor emerging risk financing trends and deliver strategic insights.
  • Develop thought leadership through publications and presentations.
  • Lead all aspects of enterprise risk diagnostics, governance, and technology systems.
  • Promote Aon’s presence in the Canadian risk consulting market.
  • Direct strategic initiatives for business development and client retention.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships across all levels.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to meet client needs and expand business.
  • Ensure client satisfaction and resolve performance issues promptly.
  • Foster a responsive, empowered team culture.
  • Uphold operational excellence and compliance standards.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree in business, finance, math or economics or hold one or more of the following designations: Chartered Accountant (CA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Enterprise Risk Management Diploma (ERM), Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) Canadian Risk Manager Diploma (CRM).

A minimum of 10 years experience in accounting or financial analysis in an insurance related environment is also required. The appropriate candidate will be working with clients on a one-on-one basis, so strong communication and presentation ability is a must in addition to analytical, organizational and trouble shooting skills.

Consulting background would be an asset.
