Job description
Job Overview

We are a busy family living on a country acreage near Lloydminster, Alberta, seeking a warm and reliable Nanny for our children. The nanny will be primarily responsible for caring for our 1-year-old child, with occasional supervision of two older children (ages 9 and 11). This role averages about 12 hours of childcare per day, 7 days a week, so it is ideal for someone with the stamina, energy, and dedication to engage with children all day. Room and board are provided as part of the compensation, making this a wonderful opportunity for a caregiver who enjoys a quiet country living environment. If you are nurturing, hardworking, and love the outdoors, you could be a great fit to join our family!

Key Responsibilities
  • Primary Childcare: Provide attentive, loving care for a 1-year-old, including feeding, diaper changes, nap time routines, and interactive play that promotes healthy development.
  • Engaging Activities: Plan and participate in age‑appropriate indoor and outdoor activities to stimulate the child’s learning and fun (e.g. reading, games, walks, crafts). Encourage creativity and active play.
  • Older Children Supervision: Occasionally supervise and care for the two older children (ages 9 and 11) when parents are occupied – engage them in activities, ensure their safety, and assist with homework or routines as needed.
  • Safety and Well‑Being: Always ensure the safety and well‑being of all children under your care, maintaining a watchful eye during play, outings on the acreage, and any errands or trips.
  • Driving and Errands: Use a valid driver’s license to transport the children as needed – whether for appointments, outings, or running family errands. You should be comfortable driving with children in rural and town settings.
  • Meal and Snack Preparation: Plan and prepare healthy meals and snacks for the children. Maintain a clean area during meal times.
  • Light Housekeeping (Child‑Related): Perform basic tidying and household tasks related to childcare. This includes cleaning up play areas, washing dishes or bottles used for the children, tidying the children’s rooms, and generally keeping areas used by the kids clean and organized. (No heavy housekeeping duties are required – focus is on childcare.)
Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience: Proven experience as a nanny or childcare provider, preferably with infants/toddlers, and confident in handling multiple children of different ages. Excellent references from past families or employers are expected.
  • Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license is required. A clean driving record and confidence driving children on highways or country roads are important for this role.
  • First Aid & Safety: Knowledge of infant/child CPR and first aid is highly valued (certification is a plus). You should be well‑versed in child safety and emergency preparedness.
  • Reliability & Work Ethic: A reliable, responsible individual with a strong work ethic. Must have the stamina to work roughly 12‑hour days, 7 days a week.
  • Warm & Nurturing Personality: Loving, patient, and warm‑hearted caregiver who truly enjoys spending time with children. You should be able to form a bond with the kids and provide gentle guidance and affection.
  • Adaptability & Organization: Organized and able to multitask – from managing a feeding and nap schedule for a toddler to coordinating playtime for older kids. Flexibility to adapt to the family’s routines and needs is key.
  • Country Living Fit: Comfortable living in a rural country setting. This position is best suited for someone who appreciates a quiet, outdoor lifestyle (we live on an acreage with plenty of space and fresh air). You should enjoy country living and be okay with the relative remoteness (while still having Lloydminster nearby).
  • Professionalism: Trustworthy and professional demeanor. Able to maintain confidentiality and respect the family’s privacy. Must be willing to undergo a background check. Non‑smoker only.
Schedule & Compensation
  • Work Hours: Approximately 12 hours per day, 7 days a week of childcare duties. (Flexibility is required, but a typical day might be structured around the children’s routine.)
  • Salary: $1,000 per week (starting wage), with room for review as the role progresses. Wages are paid weekly.
  • Room & Board: Private room and full board are provided. The nanny will have comfortable live‑in accommodations at the family’s home, including a furnished private bedroom and basic amenities, all at no cost.
  • Benefits: Being a live‑in member of our household means you’ll enjoy home‑cooked family meals, a welcoming environment, and the chance to be part of a loving family. We are located in a peaceful country setting – perfect for someone who loves nature and a close‑knit community feel.

If this opportunity excites you and you see yourself thriving in a rural family setting, we would love to hear from you!
